An imaginative and stylish contemporary apartment for a newlywed IT couple who wanted a home that wows every time you enter it. The plain, utilitarian apartment was transformed into an ultra-modern functional space. A unique interior designs were put together which is far removed from the run-of-the-mill looks. Within the space, different contours were created by using subtle cues like colours and heights of the floor. Differences were earmarked using contrasting colours so that the height differences are easily visible and do not cause people to inadvertently hit the steps. The false ceiling has been used for segregating spaces and creating an aura like appearance using different lights.
Great emphasis on lighting as the expectation was to be able to see something new every time you entered the house. This dynamic light and view was achieved through a lighting system using an app on a tablet that allows to switch between multiple modes of lighting. A variety of light arrangements have been installed from spot lighting to highlighted – paintings and wall textures, warm lighting for the night, blue lighting for parties, and concealed lighting to add an element of diffusion and to soften the sharp edges. Artefacts and real plants used to add a dash of colour and interest the eyes. The plants were chosen to also complement the oxygen in the room and drive out bad odours.
